ARGENTINE TANGO NIGHT at the Vinyl Preservation Society meeting.

• Who should attend:  Any interested tango dancers!

• When:  7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 26th. Demonstration from 7:30-8:00 pm

• Where:  Modern Hotel and Bar, 1314 West Grove Street, Boise

• Cost:  FREE — except for the fabulous cocktails they serve at the bar!

TANGO FUNDAMENTALS CLASS, Tuesday August 4th with instructor Marge Dobie. 7:30-8:30 pm. For beginners and experienced dancers. $10 or $25 for 3-class session that begins this Tuesday. Broadway Dance Center, 893 E Boise Ave. Contact Marge at 761-3954 to register.

PRACTICA, Thursday, August 6th. Practice with fellow dancers from 8-10 pm. Marguerite DJ’s a mix of classic, nuevo and alternative tango music. $5 fee, or $3 for seniors or with student ID. Boise Cafe, 10th & Bannock in downtown Boise.

MILONGA. Saturday, August 8th, 9:00 pm – midnight. Take the heat inside and indulge in a little Argentine Tango! Then take a break from dancing to enjoy light refreshments and friendly socializing. Last Thursday evening dancers and listeners enjoyed two wonderful classes taught by visiting Tanguera Jennifer Olson, followed by dancing to live tango music provided by the exceptionally talented duo, FoliasMusic. Jennifer taught a class on boleos for intrepid students, and a fascinating class on improvisation that provided students with hundreds of combinations possible from just three steps.

FoliasMusic, composed of flutist Carmen Maret and guitarist Andrew Bergeron, filled the Boise Cafe with beautiful traditional tango music capped off by a performance of La Cumparsita which included local musicians. The evening was sponsored by Beth Anne Osborn, Sarah Durney, and Boise Tango Society. Big thanks to Marge Dobie for organizing music practice with FoliasMusic and local musicians, and to Marco of Boise Cafe for making us feel welcome.
