Vinyl Preservation Society Argentine Tango Night

A CROWDED FLOOR DIDN’T STOP DANCERS FROM CREATING A STIR at the Modern Hotel & Bar this evening. Boise Tango Society members demonstrated tango to music on vinyl as Aldin played classic tango as well as songs by Louis Armstrong and Bob Dylan. The room was packed and the spectators seemed intrigued.

Thanks go to Aldin for suggesting us to the VPS and for DJ’ing, to Thomas for captivating the audience with an impromptu history of tango, and to Marge, Debbie, Ken, Dena, Aldin, Philip, Megan, Thomas, and Anita for dancing. The Vinyl Preservation Society members were welcoming and Chad and Travis were terrific to work with. If you have an eclectic interest in music or think vinyl is pretty cool, take a look at their website or attend one of their meetings on the 4th Wednesday of the month.

ARGENTINE TANGO NIGHT at the Vinyl Preservation Society meeting.

  • When:  7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 26th. Demonstration from 7:30-8:00 pm

  • Cost:  FREE — except for the fabulous cocktails they serve at the bar!

PRACTICA, Thursday, August 27th. Practice with fellow dancers from 8-10 pm. FREE lesson with Marge Dobie from 7:30-8 pm. DJ plays a mix of classic, nuevo and alternative tango music. $5 fee, or $3 for seniors or with student ID. Boise Cafe, 10th & Bannock in downtown Boise.

ARGENTINE TANGO NIGHT with the Vinyl Preservation Society on Wednesday, August 26th. All tango dancers are invited to the Modern Hotel Bar for the VPS monthly meeting where we’ll be demonstrating tango from 7:30 – 8:00 pm. The meeting starts at 7:00 pm, and the whole evening is free. Dance a little, listen to a terrific variety of music on vinyl, and have a drink at this quirky little bar. Contact Camille for more info.
