Boise Tango

Last Thursday evening dancers and listeners enjoyed two wonderful classes taught by visiting Tanguera Jennifer Olson, followed by dancing to live tango music provided by the exceptionally talented duo, FoliasMusic. Jennifer taught a class on boleos for intrepid students, and a fascinating class on improvisation that provided students with hundreds of combinations possible from just three steps.

FoliasMusic, composed of flutist Carmen Maret and guitarist Andrew Bergeron, filled the Boise Cafe with beautiful traditional tango music capped off by a performance of La Cumparsita which included local musicians. The evening was sponsored by Beth Anne Osborn, Sarah Durney, and Boise Tango Society. Big thanks to Marge Dobie for organizing music practice with FoliasMusic and local musicians, and to Marco of Boise Cafe for making us feel welcome.

• 6:30-7:30 pm Nuevo Boleos for intermediate & advanced dancers. $8 fee.

• 7:30-8:30 pm Ultimate Improvisation for beginner & intermediate dancers. $8 fee.

Jennifer will also offer a Guided Practica on Monday, June 15th, at Ashtanga Yoga Boise, 1011 Williams St., Boise.

• 7:00-9:00 pm  All Levels Practica Intensivo. $10 fee.

FOLIASMUSIC, traveling tango musicians visiting from Grand Rapids, Michigan will perform live tango music during the Practica from 9-10 pm. FREE admission!
