Boise Tango Society status report;

*  The Thursday Practica at The Press continues at near capacity participation.  The big difference in the last few months  as compared to years past is that the gender balance has changed from significantly more women than men to a near perfect balance tending slightly towards more men than women now.

With 5 or 6 couples dancing, the floor is pretty much full.  However, if we all focus on fundamental floorcraft skills, there will be enough room for 5 or 6 more couples as we continue to grow.  This will be accomplished if we all keep the ‘line of dance’ towards the outside of the floor, (leaving space to dance in the middle) dance through the corners and fill the space in front of us so as not to deprive everyone else of usable floor.  These are the normal conventions recognized and practiced in the Tango World.

The consensus seems to be that The Press is a comfortable and well liked location for the Thursday Practica.

*  The new ‘drop in’ format at the Fort Boise Recreation Center is working well, and is attracting both a bigger number of dancers than the previous 5 week lesson series format, and dancers who tend to participate in the other tango venues as well.

*  The Sunday YMCA  venue is finally catching on.  The huge floorspace available provides plenty of room to practice and experiment as well as to expand.

BOISE AIRES; The Movie Trailer

The following video is a sample of an ongoing film project, which is being produced by Pete White and the Boise Tango Society.  Over the next year or so, dance scenes will be filmed throughout the Boise area during all seasons of the year.  This is intended to include the entire Tango Community so everyone is invited to participate.  From time to time we will meet at various locations to shoot.  Each shoot will take only around 30 minutes and requires no particular dress or planning.  Let me know if you want to be notified of the next shoot’s time and place.  Carl
