FREE Beginner lesson 7:30-8:00 pm. — an excellent opportunity to try tango for free, and only pay if you stay for the Milonga.
Milonga 8:00 - 11:00 pm. All skill levels welcome, no partner necessary. Beer and wine available for purchase. Milonga Fee $6.00, or $4.00 for seniors or with student ID.
LIVE TANGO MUSIC & LESSONS WITH JENNIFER OLSON

Last Thursday evening dancers and listeners enjoyed two wonderful classes taught by visiting Tanguera Jennifer Olson, followed by dancing to live tango music provided by the exceptionally talented duo, FoliasMusic. Jennifer taught a class on boleos for intrepid students, and a fascinating class on improvisation that provided students with hundreds of combinations possible from just three steps.
FoliasMusic, composed of flutist Carmen Maret and guitarist Andrew Bergeron, filled the Boise Cafe with beautiful traditional tango music capped off by a performance of La Cumparsita which included local musicians. The evening was sponsored by Beth Anne Osborn, Sarah Durney, and Boise Tango Society. Big thanks to Marge Dobie for organizing music practice with FoliasMusic and local musicians, and to Marco of Boise Cafe for making us feel welcome.

SATURDAY MARKET PERFORMANCE

Visitors to the downtown public market on Saturday were attracted by the sounds of Canaro, Demare and Di Sarli and stopped to watch dancers performing Argentine Tango in front of the fountain on the Grove. A warm sunny day in Boise brought thousands of people to the market. We had an opportunity to promote the Boise Tango Society and tango by handing out flyers and talking to the many bystanders who were interested. The success of this outreach effort was due to the volunteer efforts of our members who helped with setup, handed out flyers, and performed in the sunny (and warm!) conditions. Many thanks go to Dena & Aldin, Don & Terri, Marge, Thomas, Debbie, Sarah, Carl, Megan & Philip, Ken, Allison, and Linda (from Sun Valley). Beth Anne & Clay brought a great sound system, and special thanks to J. Abling for DJ’ing part of the performance. Check out the photos through the link on the Photos Tab.

MONDAY TANGO CLASSES FOR SUMMER

Sarah Durney offers classes for beginner and intermediate dancers through her studio, Ashtanga Yoga Boise. Drop-in classes are $10 each or four for $35. Classes run from 7:45-8:45 pm followed by a practica until 9:30 pm. See the Calendar or CLICK HERE for more information.
